Suffolk County Community College Opportunities

Options available:

  • Tours of facility in Riverhead, groups of up to 60 students or private tours by appointment only.

  • Any students interested in Culinary, Baking and Pastry, or Hotel Resort Management, can speak with Community Liaison 1 on 1.

  • Inquire about organic animal and vegetable farms or planning a tour of the east end.

  • Organize a lunch for your tour as well. Maple Tree BBQ and Jerry and the Mermaid can cater for larger groups, but smaller groups are welcome to dine in the restaurants.

  • Baker’s Workshop is also offering a lunch option of a wrap, cookie, and water for $10. Menu options are available upon request. 

    Get ready to spice up the kitchen, as the eighth annual Junior Iron Chef Competition on Long Island is back and better than ever! Coordinated by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County held at Suffolk County Community College Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center in Riverhead, NY. This event promises a day of culinary excitement for high school students!

    • Venue Change: We’ve moved to the state-of-the-art Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center in Riverhead, offering a fantastic setting for culinary creativity.

    • Team Size: Teams will consist of 2-3 high school students, fostering collaboration and camaraderie.

    • High School Exclusivity: This year, the competition is exclusively for high school students.

    • Friday Frenzy: Shake up your routine- the competition day is now on a Friday!
